I, Coby Beck, do solemnly offer these my responses to
The Road to Lisp Survey:
When did you first try Lisp seriously, and which Lisp family member was it?
My first encounter with Lisp was Common Lisp and Allegro 3.0 in an Artificial Intelligence course at BCIT (British Columbia Institue of Technology) in Canada. It came mercifully early in my computer experiences so my mind was not yet primed against all those silly parens and the lack of {};$&&|| etc characters.
What led you to try Lisp?
Well, same old story, I guess...just like so many before me. University Music Student becomes Tree Planter becomes Artificial Intelligence Engineer...
What other languages have you been using most?
I use a lot of SQL and a smattering of Python and Java Script. That's right now, I've also used some C++ and of course plenty of HTML.
What do you think of Lisp so far?
Lisp is a diamond in the gravel pit of modern IT.
