I, John Sturdy, do solemnly offer these my responses to The Road to Lisp Survey:
When did you first try Lisp seriously, and which Lisp family member was it?
1985, the Cambridge Lisp implementation of Standard Lisp. I then implemented my own small dialect, then moved on to Common Lisp and now use Emacs Lisp as my main language.
What led you to try Lisp?
Doing a PhD on the reflective implementation of programming languages.
What other languages have you been using most?
C, PostScript, perl, sh
How far have you gotten in your study of Lisp?
Moderately good CL1, moderately good emacs-lisp.
What do you think of Lisp so far?
The most powerful language in general; I need pretty strong reasons to get me to write in anything else.
