I,
Slobodan Blazeski, do solemnly offer these my responses to
The Road to Lisp Survey:
When did you first try Lisp seriously, and which Lisp family member was it?
Summer 2003. Common Lisp
What led you to try Lisp?
In a gamedev.net forum somebody asked a question what language is for writing AI, i wanted to reply to him that you could write AI in any language but somebody before me posted that lisp and prolog are the mothertongues of AI. So I got very curious what's so special about them and decided to give it a try to one of them.
Where did your road originate?
I started with gwbasic 1994 in school than do some pascal in 1999, afterwards i didn't programmed for about a 3 years .In 2002 started learning C++ as my primary language with game development in mind. Year after that started with c#. Beside short affairs with php, python & ocaml, I worked as Delphi / Transact-SQL programmer. And now I'm a full time lisper.
How far have you gotten in your study of Lisp?
[Hard to answer, I know. Just looking for a rough idea.]
I started in 2003 but have been using seriously lisp for less than a year, so my status is apprentice jedi.
What do you think of Lisp so far?
Natural way of my programming, mixing exploration and refinement with a language that doesn't get in your way, but instead it helps you achieve your goals quickly.
The only bad thing about lisp is that I went out of shape. I used to make push ups when my c++ code was compiling and there is no such thing with REPL.
